Born in France, though of Spanish/Italian descent, Mona di Orio is one of the most modern female perfumers of today. With her innate sense of smell and exquisite taste, Mona has travelled the world developing her passion and intrigue for scents. Her unique fragrances are derived  from her olfactory experiences and the inspirational people she has met along the way..

After studying Art and Philosophy, Mona di Orio met Edmond Roudnitska, one of the greatest classical noses of the last century, whose repertoire includes classics such as: Eau Sauvage, Dior Dior, Diorella and Eau d’Hermes. Mona became his protegee and trained under him for 9 years, developing her own perspective and approach to the composition of perfume, before eventually taking over the laboratory when he died in 1996.

Also inspired by the great perfumer Serge Lutens, Mona developed a desire to be different, and a passion to experience the power and magic of perfume.  A chance meeting with Alain Ducasse in 1997 also had a lasting affect, inspiring her quest to seek out the best and purest raw materials.

But her passion for the culture of wine and champagne, learned touring the French and Italian vineyards, alerted her to the synergy between a beautiful bottle of wine and a beautiful bottle of perfume. Not only does the champagne muselet form the lock in the design for her striking perfume bottle cap, but…like  a perfume, wine is a story in a bottle, narrating a region or wonderful memory…

In 2004 Mona teamed up with Dutch designer Jerouen Oude Sogtoen to create a perfume house based on elegance and quality with a contemporary edge, and a mission to create stories and memories from her fragrances.

Les Nombres d’Or – available to buy at La Maison Couture, is a collection of 6 complex Fragrances, incorporating her signature notes of glamour, mystery and romance. Fragrances Ambre, Musc and Cuir are available immediately, followed by Vétyver, Vanille and Tubereuse which will be available from mid-June).

Also available is her range of Scented Candles –  Mauve, Ebony and Taupe, that come beautifully boxed and presented with their signature coral detailed lids.
