H. Stern by Oscar Niemeyer – Press Preview 4th February 2014

H. Stern Pampula Earrings        Pampula Architecture Sketch by Oscar Niemeyer

We were delighted to attend the H. Stern by Oscar Niemeyer Press Preview yesterday at their gorgeous new Sloane Street shop!

Inspired by the simple curvacious lines of architect Oscar Niemeyers sketches, H. Stern collaborated with Niemeyer last year to create a stunning collection of jewellery based on his works. Using the easy flowing lines and feminine shapes of Niemeyers drawings, said to have been inspired by the bays and mountains of his home town, Rio de Janeiro, aswell as those of the beautiful girls that stroll the beaches.., Stern has created a unique collection of timeless and elegant pieces. Each piece, exquisitely crafted in White and Yellow gold with diamonds, is named after one of Niemeyer’s renowned buildings and translates into jewellery so perfectly, as though he had intended it all along..

The death of Oscar Niemeyer (best known for his futuristic and dramatic buildings such as the Catedral Metropolitana, Brazil, ON Cultural Centre in Spain, and the UN building New York), last year aged 104 adds even more poignancy to this incredible collection, which is as much a jewellery legacy, as a celebration of the works of one of the greatest architects of our time..
