The rich and royal heritage of France’s oldest candle maker, Cire Trudon, is lending a venerable and august quality to The Boutique at La Maison Couture…
Each Cire Trudon perfumed candle captures notes and tells stories that are evocative of it’s history; the smell of the vast wooden floors in the Chateaux de Versailles, is evident in it’s first ever fragrance, Roi Soleil, while the divinely light and floral Trianon scent, draws it’s inspiration from the gardens of Marie Antoinette. There are also candles that evoke historical figures: with its tobacco, rum, leather and wood notes, Ernesto is (ironically for this royal brand) dedicated to Che Guevara, whilst the feminine and delicate fragrance of the Mademoiselle de la Valliere candle pays homage to Louis the XIV’s mistress.
Established in 1643 by Claude Trudon, Cire Trudon’s history is interwoven with quintessential elements of Parisian history. These clean-burning white candles lit up the court of Louis the XV, lined the infamous boudoir of Marie Antoinette and illuminated Louis the XVI’s cell as he awaited the guillotine. Napoleon only gave a single present to his new-born son: a Cire Trudon candle featuring his cameo encrusted with gold. Revived in 2007, Cire Trudon candles still illuminate some of the world’s most stylish homes. Where once this prestigious brand served as the apothecary to the court of Versailles it now serves royalty of a different sort – Madonna is said to be a huge fan!
We are delighted that our favourite scented candles from this revered candle manufacturer are now available to buy from The Boutique at La Maison Couture
